    KDKA

    • KDKA originally began broadcasting in 1949 as WDTV, part of the DuMont family of stations. The station switched from its original position on Channel 3 to its current position at Channel 2 in 1952. The station was later sold to Westinghouse and became a CBS affiliate station with its current call letters. In 1995, KDKA became a CBS-owned and operated station.

    WTAE

    • WTAE is Pittsburgh's ABC-affiliate station. Broadcasting on Channel 4, WTAE first went on the air on September 14, 1958. At that time, the daily news broadcast took 15 minutes. "Four Star News" soon expanded to 30 minutes and, as of 2010, the station produces and assembles more than 30 hours of new programming each week. In 2007, WTAE became the first Pittsburgh station since 1987 to receive the George Foster Peabody Award.

    WQED

    • WQED-TV is Pittsburgh's Public Television Station affiliate. The television station is owned by WQED Multimedia, one of the country's first community-supported public broadcasting companies. WQED Multimedia also operates a number of other broadcast media including WQED-FM radio and WQED Interactive online. WQED-TV broadcasts a range of programming including drama, ballet, classical music, art, opera, public affairs information, history, architecture and education. Approximately 50 percent of the station's broadcast schedule is dedicated to children's programming.
