What is the Social Anxiety Session Change Index?
Written or reviewed by a board-certified physician. See About.com's Medical Review Board.
Definition:
The Social Anxiety Session Change Index (SASCI) is used to keep track of progress made by a client during cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or another type of therapy for social anxiety disorder (SAD).
The SASCI consists of four items with questions about anticipatory anxiety, avoidance behaviors, fear of being embarrassed, and how much social anxiety interferes with daily functioning.
The instrument includes questions which require the client to respond based on how he is feeling in comparison to when first starting therapy, in order to assess change from the beginning of treatment.
