While food does not directly cause acne it does have a significant influence over how the body functions and how healthy the skin will be - so forget about all those people who say food does not cause acne. We know it doesn't but that doesn't invalidate the intricate relationship between food and skin health.

Fats are one of the most important category of food that people suffering from acne need to be careful with. In modern society, unhealthy fats are prevalent while essential fatty acids are usually lacking in people's diets.

It is one thing to remove bad fats from one's diet but it may not suffice to improve an acne condition. It will be equally important to provide your body with good fats. If it runs dry of them the body will trigger the sebaceous gland to produce more oil in order to compensate for the lack.

They are an inexpensive seed that can be easily obtainable in health food stores and can be added to many different meals. Just make sure you grind the seeds before consuming them because otherwise your body will not be able to break them down and assimilate the nutrients.

You can safely eat a few teaspoons of flaxseeds everyday to help regulate the output of the sebaceous glands and return the oil in your skin to normal levels. Other foods rich in essential fatty acids include avocados, green leafy vegetables, sunflower and pumpkin seeds and olives.

As with any home remedies for acne, there is no need to overdo it. Incorporate flaxseeds gradually in your diet for best results over time.
