Many people are of the assumption that Las Vegas is the mecca of gambling and to a certain extent they would be absolutely correct! However, to find the world's greatest casinos you have to look all over the globe, not just in Nevada. Therefore, we have clubbed together and come up with a top five list of some of the world's best casinos based on their fame, size and sheer gambling experience. In this list you will of course find casinos located within Las Vegas but also others located in places all over the world in Europe and Asia.

1) Caesars Palace - this legendary casino based on the Las Vegas strip in Paradise, Nevada was opened in 1966 and is one of the world's biggest casinos in size, having over 300,000 square feet in floor space and 3960 rooms. It plays host to the World Series of Poker circuit event and also has been the setting for many box office films such as Rocky 3, Rush Hour 2 and the Hangover. Caesars has its rooms located in six towers: Augustus, Centurion, Roman, Palace, Octavius, and Forum. The Forum tower features guest suites with over 1,000 square feet of space.

2) The Venetian Macao - not only is this Chinese casino big in size for a casino, it is also reportedly the sixth largest building in the world at 546,000 square feet with enough room apparently to hold 90 boeing 747 jumbo jets! The whole complex is separated into themed gaming areas called the Golden Fish, Imperial House, Red Dragon and Phoenix. The casino consists of over 3400 slot machines and 800 gambling tables and the hotel also offers a club named Paiza Club that is especially catered to its more premium guests.

3) Casino de MontrĀ©al - the Casino de MontrĀ©al is a Canadian casino based on the le Notre-Dame in Montreal, Quebec. It is easily the biggest casino in Canada, and the third largest casino in the world. As expected, the casino is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to persons aged over 18 years which is the current legal age limit for gambling in Canadian states.

4) The Hippodrome - This quaint London casino makes its appearance on our list for its historical importance after being built over 100 years ago in 1900 by Frank Matcham. The casino has three floors, five bars and does not require membership in order for patrons to enter.
