How to Clean Aluminum Screened Porches
- 1). Vacuum the aluminum screens from inside the porch without removing the screens. Glide the brush attachment over the aluminum screens using side-to-side motions, working from top to bottom.
- 2). Cover the porch’s flooring and woodwork surrounding the screens with plastic drop cloths. Adhere the plastic to the woodwork using masking tape.
- 3). Pour about 1 tablespoon of mild, non-alkaline detergent into a bucket. Fill the bucket with warm water. Mix the detergent solution well.
- 4). Scrub the solution onto an aluminum screen using a nylon brush. Work from inside the porch, and scrub the screen in a side-to-side, top-to-bottom fashion. Work the brush’s bristles into the screen’s tiny crevices to loosen grime.
- 5). Fill another bucket with water. Saturate a cloth in the water.
- 6). Wipe the soapy aluminum screen with the wet cloth. Rub the cloth over the sudsy screen using side-to-side motions, working from top to bottom. Thoroughly rinse the screen.
- 7). Continue cleaning the porch's aluminum screens using the previous techniques. Replace both solutions as they become cloudy.
- 8). Let the wet aluminum screens thoroughly air-dry. Remove the masking tape and plastic drop cloths once all screens are dry.
