Unlock iPhone - Using iTunes
Have you ever thought about getting your iPhone unlocked? Well, you wouldn't be the first person and you might actually be interested to find out how easy it is. I'll explain a bit about hows it done below and what to look out for. I'll also touch on phone unlocking in general, just in case anyone reading this is unsure.
Let's start with that actually. Phone unlocking is the practise of removing a Network Lock that is placed on the phone to prevent the owner using whichever SIM card they wish. The phone will only then accept SIM cards from the original network. This is most of the time, because phones sold directly from a network, which the majority are, will all have this lock in place.
Unlocking is completely legal. All that happens is the active locks on the phone are removed so the owner can then use any SIM card. It is also worth noting that removing this lock won't affect your manufacturer warranty either, as you are making a change to the phone that wasn't placed there by them, but by the network instead.
iPhone unlocking is different to most other phones because it is only ever officially completed through iTunes. If anyone ever offers to unlock the phone through anything else, you run the risk of the lock being made active again as soon as you go to update the iOS. If it is done through iTunes however, the phone is unlocked by Apple who then notify the iTunes system to remove the lock and keep the lock removed as well. You can visit this page for iPhone unlocking, which has every iPhone model available.
The process itself is very simple, and I'll include the instructions below:
It is very easy to do but does require that you have both a SIM card from the original network and a new SIM card as well. I hope this article has been informative, and please do leave a comment if it has.

- Ensure you have the latest version of iTunes
- With a SIM card from the original network inserted, connect the iPhone to your computer and update the phones iOS to the latest edition
- Insert a new SIM card in it (that isn't from the phones original network), connect the iPhone to your computer and wait for iTunes to detect the phone
- Disconnect the iPhone from the computer, and wait 20 seconds
- Reconnect the Apple iPhone to the computer and wait for iTunes to detect it again
- The phone should now be unlocked
It is very easy to do but does require that you have both a SIM card from the original network and a new SIM card as well. I hope this article has been informative, and please do leave a comment if it has.
