Can Fad Crash Diets Work?

At least 30% of the adult population of the United States is overweight.
This is not good news, because this means there will be more people who will have chronic diseases that are related to obesity, like diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.
Although there are many fat loss solutions being offered everywhere, from diet pills to liposuctions, the most famous among these options is whatever the latest fad crash diet may be.
Now you may wonder why anyone would consider fad diets bad for losing weight, when all these testimonials about fad diets working are floating on the newspaper, magazines and websites.
Yes, it is possible for someone to lose weight from these fad diets, but usually, the weight loss achieved is only temporary.
Most of the fast weight loss diets that are being advertised usually would require you to consume a very low caloric quota for the day, often, below the recommended number of calories that you must consume to keep your metabolism within normal levels.
These fad crash diets would sometimes require you to just eat from one food group all day.
There are, for example, diets that only tell you to eat all proteins, or all carbs, or all fruits.
Each one of these diet plans claim that their program works, and their ads often have testimonials from "successful dieters".
Fad crash diets are those hyped diet programs that become "trendy" because everyone seems to be doing it.
They usually work for a while, but the minute you return to a normal diet, the pounds will start creeping back again.
Another downside is that some of these crash diets are so difficult to do, that people tend to give them up after a few weeks of practice.
If you are tempted to try these fad crash diets, consider some of the following results: 1.
Your metabolism will slow down because you are not consuming the needed calories per day.
A lowered metabolism is counterproductive when you are on a diet, because it results to a slower rate of burning calories.
2.
Because you are not getting enough nutrients, your body will also suffer.
It is not uncommon, for example for people who go on crash diets for a long time to experience lowered blood sugar which may lead to dizziness or even fainting.
3.
You will crave for more food later on because your appetite is not being satisfied.
You may feel deprived and will sooner or later turn to food.
4.
You may lose concentration because you are constantly hungry.
5.
Extreme dieting may even lead to hair loss, because the body does not get the nutrients that it needs for the healthy growth of body cells, including hair cells.
The best form of weight loss solution still comes in the form of a daily food plan that is both nutritious and low in calories.
It must be supported by a good exercise routine and by taking in some vitamin and mineral supplements.
Rapid weight loss through fad crash diets will not help you maintain the ideal weight.
Unless you do some drastic changes in your daily food intake and until you get into a good exercise routine, you will not be able to achieve permanent and healthy weight loss.
