The P90X Workout - How Does it Stack Up?
I have been involved with the health and fitness industry for a number of years now and have tested various training methods, equipment, supplements and eating programs. If there is one thing I have learned from this industry it is that body image can be an extremely emotional topic for many people. Many of the companies that play in this space realize this also and sadly many of them exploit this in their marketing campaigns. Personally I find emotional sales tactics that prey on peoples insecurities highly immoral. Having said that you can rest assured that my reviews are honest and I hold nothing back.
Now lets get on to the P90X workout review, I'm not sure why but for some reason there seems to be a number of mix ups with the name of this product. I have seen P90X, X90P, 90XP, PX90 and a few other variations that I can not recall right now. To set the record straight, the official name is P90X Extreme Training System.
I was able to review the entire program after a friend and training buddy of mine purchased the complete P90X workout program and got some really good results. Like me, he has been training for a number of years and has fine tuned his workout regime to get the best possible results. He claimed that the P90X workout has made him revisit what he though the knew about training. This obviously intrigued me and I borrowed the entire course from him so I could get this review done. I was not planning on changing my current training routine unless I found some ground breaking techniques in this program. I have to admit I was somewhat impressed with some of the content provided in the program and I have added a few of the techniques to my current training program.
I have no doubt that the P90X workout is a solid weight loss program than will give you results should you make the effort to follow the program diligently. The major drawback or area of concern I have is that whilst the program is very effective, many people will not be able to stick with it for long due to the amount of effort that is required to get results. Don't get me wrong, I was not expecting the P90X workout to be a quick "10min a day fix me up program", I understand that you have to make a genuine effort in order to see results. It's just that from my experience in the industry, people who are out of shape need to be eased into a workout routine, once they start training and begin to feel better and see some results from their training it will automatically motivate them to start making healthier food choices.
The P90X workout program does not address this properly and instead encourages people to make a drastic lifestyle change almost all at once, drastic change in their diet followed with a grueling exercise routines that can get results but also causing people to give up very fast. Many people who are out of shape and end up trying the P90X workout will probably expect very quick results due to the intensity of the workout program and the drastic lifestyle changes. When they don't see these "immediate" results they will simply get despondent and give up then move on to the next hyped up miracle product that promises instant gratification in a pill. The other drawback of the P90X workout is that there is an entire range of "add on" "must have P90X" supplements and workout equipment making the whole experience a rather costly affair. This worries me as there are people who will purchase these items primarily due to emotional reasons and out off desperation to get into shape, even if they can not really afford the products.
In conclusion, the P90X workout is without a doubt an effective program for people wanting to get into shape and loose weight or body fat whilst gaining muscle. The problem is that it is far too drawn out, far to expensive and in most cases one could achieve similar results from far more simpler, cost effective, easy to follow workout programs.
I hope this review has shed some light on the P90X workout program and has helped you decided to buy or not to buy.
