Tips To Avoiding Issues In A Motorcycle Repair

Having had some experience with Monarch Honda in this matter I'd like to go over a few things that you can do in order to avoid problems after getting your motorcycle back after service. First things first, get a few opinions (professional or otherwise) as to what problems your bike could have so that there won't be too many surprises when you take it in.

The next thing to do is take pictures of your motorcycle so that you can note what its exact condition is before you take it to the shop. Take close pictures of paint around the bike and of all parts that could possibly come off or detach during a repair. This assures that you have a record of the bike's condition before it leaves your possession.

After getting a call about what is wrong with your motorcycle the most ideal thing to do is go to the mechanic's shop and go over every point that they say needs to be addressed. However, this can be time-consuming so most times this step does not happen.

When you receive the call that the services have been performed go to the shop and talk with the mechanic. Have the mechanic walk around the bike and look at all the areas that were worked on. If possible, have the mechanic show you the parts that needed to be replaced and look for obvious faults in them.

If you do find that, after you bring your bike home, that something is wrong with the motorcycle or it has been damaged in the repair immediately document what is wrong. If you can prove with pictures and/or video what the state of the bike was before and after the repair you are most likely to get everything taken care of for you without any more hassles than what you have already been through.

Talk to the shop that performed the repair and do everything you can to document exactly when you spoke to them and with whom you spoke. Even audio recordings of phone calls can be helpful if the shop starts to claim things like "it was like that when we got it."

Hopefully by this point you get it all resolved but if not you can start to put pressure on a shop by submitting complaints to the Better Business Bureau, Rip Off Report, the Complaints Board, and many more. Most businesses that care about their image and will do a lot to prevent bad publicity.

Hopefully it never comes to that and if you follow these steps you'll come out of every automotive repair with no problems at all.
