What is most exciting about getting pregnant is that you get to experience a whole lot of things throughout the whole nine months.
And most of these things, you are bound to feel only when you have that little miracle growing inside you and nowhere else.
So for all expectant mothers out there, here is a simple guide to those nine glorious months and the changes that you are bound to experience as that date grows near.
The First Trimester: This period will start from the time that the female egg is fertilised by the sperm and will end three months later.
This can be both a confusing and a wonderful time for pregnant women.
Here, you will experience your very first doze of morning sickness.
Morning sickness, nausea and vomiting are brought about by hormonal changes in your body and are considered to be perfectly normal.
For some women, the discomfort can dwindle as you end the trimester while some can have at longer periods.
At the end of this trimester, your little baby will have developed basic facial features and will be around 4-6 mm in length.
The Second Trimester: This period will begin right after the first trimester period and will end at the 6th month from fertilisation.
Usually, morning sickness is no longer a problem for most women.
The bulge in your tummy will also be bigger and more noticeable.
This is also one of the most exciting times when mummies experience the very first movement.
This usually begins during the 4th month and can get stronger as you go farther into the trimester.
Here, your baby now takes on a more human form and will experience his or her very first urination.
The gender of the foetus is now also visible through ultrasound examination.
The Third Trimester: This is the last trimester and definitely the most exciting of all.
The third trimester will end in the 9th month with you finally giving birth to that baby.
This will be the final stretch of your weight gain.
The foetus will be undergoing its fastest growth during the last trimester and thus, you will experience a more rapid gain in your weight.
This is the reason why pregnant women's tummies will look quite low during the last three months of pregnancy.
And because of the expanding abdomen, some women's navels will even pop out.
She will also experience the highest degree of backache and discomfort due to the heavy weight.
And finally, foetal movement is at its strongest, sometimes even deforming the mother's belly.
Although pregnancy is full of uncomfortable changes, these symptoms are all a normal part of the process.
These symptoms will eventually wear off once you give birth to your baby.
With each trimester that you conquer, you are one step away to finally seeing that beautiful miracle in your arms.
What expecting mothers should work hard at is to keep them selves as healthy as they possibly can.
How? By simply living a healthy lifestyle and getting the proper medical guidance at all times.
These little discomforts are nothing compared to the joys of motherhood.
